We have never been confronted with our own face, or rather the image of our face, as often as in the digital age. How are digital technologies penetrating our body image and our perceptions?
„Are we currently experiencing a new, digital mirror stage?“, the video animation „because the moon“ seems to ask. The video animation is realized using motion capture technology and visualizes this technology at the same time. But who is controlling whom here?
A close-up. An avatar holds a mobile phone in front of the left side of his face so that the human face on the display complements his face. The face on the display and the avatar speak and move in synchronization. They speak – with one voice – about the face. The spoken text was written using an AI text generator. On the one hand, it contains allusions to a text by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guatarri „The Creation of the Face“ and, on the other, to Jacques Lacan’s „Mirror Stage“. However, it remains enigmatic as a result.
